8/28/2023 0 Comments Best 9 volt rechargeable battery![]() Note: This topic has been moved from another thread. Price is less of a factor, although I don't wish to pay more than necessary of course, I'm just looking for a good quality battery that works in tight compartments from a source where I can determine the manufacture date before ordering. 9 volt batteries can frequently be seen used in radios, smoke alarms, wall clocks, walkie-talkies. Manufacture date - the older the batteries are when you get them the shorter the shelf life and the more likely you are to have a drop off in initial voltage. The 9V battery is used in many different applications. Proper size - apparently not all batteries are the same exact dimensions and some can have trouble fitting in tighter compartments often found on guitarsĤ. Lithium ion is supposed to be better in this regard I think?ģ. Longer-lasting under load - different battery technologies offer longer duration. Higher voltage out of the box - just because it says it's 9v doesn't mean it's going to produce 9vĢ. ![]() What is the best battery for active circuitry in guitars? And where can I get them with a recent guaranteed manufacture date? I'm looking for these things:ġ. For another, there seems to be a wider variance in actual size that can cause problems in some tighter fitting battery compartments. For one thing, there is a lot of discussion about whether or not these batteries really recharge to their full potential/voltage. I thought about moving to rechargeable but I have discounted that move, at least for the moment. And some types are better than others, with Lithium-Ion seeming to get better marks. It appears that there are many brands out there that are really just re-brands by third parties of inferior products discarded by the actual manufacturer. So manufacture date could be one important factor.Īnother is battery type and brand. ![]() I think part of my problem has been that I've not been buying the best batteries to begin with.Īlso, from what I've read, and been told, all batteries begin to lose their capacity after manufacture and older batteries, although new in package, will not necessarily have a good charge. Buying Amazon basics for example saves money but doesn't seem to guarantee a decent product. A check on the battery tester on some of these shows that they put out nowhere near the voltages they claim.Ī bit of research suggests that there is a considerable variance in battery quality based on a number of factors. But some of them don't seem to be up to the task even when they are fresh out of the package. Maybe it's all in my head, but I seem to hear a drop off, even if it's slight, in the quality of the sound output as the battery's voltage drops. Battery-powered Acoustic Engine feels like a step back from the US model. Lately it seems like I've seen a drop off in how well and how long my batteries are lasting in my guitars. I have numerous guitars with active circuitry that require 9v batteries, both acoustic/electric and electric.
